  • 0

Password‑protecting a directory ensures that only authorized users can access certain parts of your website. This is useful for private files, staging sites, or admin areas.

Step 1: Log in to Your Client Area

  • Go to the Client Login.

  • Enter your credentials to access your hosting dashboard.

Step 2: Open File Manager or Security Settings

  1. From the Client Area, go to Services → My Services.

  2. Select your hosting plan.

  3. In the service dashboard, click File Manager or Password‑Protected Directories (depending on your hosting control panel).

Step 3: Choose the Directory

  • Navigate to the folder you want to protect (e.g., /private, /admin, or /docs).

  • Select the directory and click Protect with Password.

Step 4: Create User Credentials

  • Enter a username and password for access.

  • Save the credentials.

  • You can add multiple users if needed.

Step 5: Test Access

  • Visit the protected directory in your browser.

  • You should be prompted to enter the username and password.

  • Only users with valid credentials will be able to access the content.

Tip: Use strong passwords and update them regularly. For extra security, combine password protection with SSL/TLS so credentials are encrypted during login.
